Movie Review- Usual Neighbor (2013)

 

Good afternoon everyone. Today I would like to introduce Usual Neighbor, an American movie released in 2013. This work was directed by John McNaughton. The genre is mad suspense. The first half and the second half of the story have completely different atmospheres. It is a bit different from the horror movies that I always introduce, so please remember this work as well. Next I will introduce the story a little.

Marian was taken to her grandparent's home after her father's death. Then she found a bedridden boy, Andy, in her neighbor's house and they became friends. Andy's father understood, but his mother was unhappy with Andy and Marian playing. One day, Marian found an unconscious boy in the basement of Andy's house. Who is the boy, and who is Andy that Marian was talking. The highlights of the film are Marian's brave actions and Andy's parent's extraordinary love for him. Andy's mother is a super psychopath to the end, so that's also a highlight.

I watched this movie twice in a row. The reason is that the story was very difficult. I did not enjoy it the first time because it took me a while to understand. But when I understood the story the second time, I thought it was a very interesting movie. The first half of this work was actually a normal story and not horror-like, but in the second half, it suddenly became a psychological thriller and gradually became scary.
